Selihot is the evening we spend framing in our minds and hearts our personal and interpersonal issues of forgiveness.

These are always difficult issues for all of us, and they run both ways, forgiving people who have hurt us and asking forgiveness of people we have hurt, and forgiving ourselves. Are others really sorry for how they hurt us, have they apologized to us, can and will we forgive them?
Are we truly sorry for the hurt we have caused others, do we have the courage to ask for their forgiveness?

Each year we struggle with these issues in the context of our real lives. Why, because if we want to really make a new year a new life (Rosh Hashana) and have a real Day of At-One-Ment (or Atonement Yom Kippur) and spend a week of Rejoicing at Succot and learning the Torah of Joy (Simhat Torah), then we need to liberate ourselves from the “forgiveness” related obstacles that stand in our way.

We encourage you to join us on Selihot where we will begin with Havdalah and through dialogue, meditations, prayers and songs we will enter and explore the world of “forgiveness”.
